This report would provide a privately-owned healthcare enterprise that is based in Australia. The report would focus on Ramsay Health Care that is private healthcare operating in various countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, France, Australia, and the United Kingdom. This report would provide insights on the overview of Ramsay Health Care, strategic issues that are prevalent in health care due to the onset of pandemic, vision and mission statement, opportunities of growth, application of the suitable business models, and development of the strategic objectives in relation to challenges.



Overview of the Ramsay Health Care

Ramsay Health Care headquarter is located in Sydney, Australia. The areas that Ramsay Health Care serves include Malaysia, France, United Kingdom, Indonesia, and Australia. The company offers the services of health care and specializes in the area of psychiatric care, rehabilitation, and surgeries. It employs more than thirty thousand people in the organization and has recently established a partnership with the Ascension for the venture of a new international supply chain. The focus of Ramsay Health Care is on the provision of high-quality services along with the provision of patient care that is of high quality. It could be considered as one of the largest health care companies across the globe that deals in the private sector.

Key strategic issues

The ongoing and future strategic issues for Ramsay Health Care due to the Covid-19 crisis are as follows:

  • Overwhelming of the healthcare units – The onset of the pandemic has drastically overwhelmed the health care units across the different countries in the world. Due to the pandemic, health care sectors across many countries have reached their maximum capacity. Certain social problems and clinical problems have taken the dimensions that could not be considered as manageable (Ginter, Duncan & Swayne 2018). This has resulted in catastrophic results for both the people and health care sectors in different countries.

  • Lack of resources – It seems that with the rise of COVID 19 there has been a disruption that has arisen with the population. The spread of the covid-19 has resulted in the lack of critical units, beds, medicines, and other such resources in the healthcare sector. It has also resulted in the shortage of staffing in the hospitals (Jowett, Kutzin & World Health Organization 2015).

The following are the challenges that are faced at the corporate and business level for Ramsay Health Care:

  • Increasing costs of healthcare – The costs of healthcare are ever rising and evolving across the countries of the world. There are various stakeholders that play an essential role in the determination of pricing of the healthcare services that include manufacturing companies of the drugs and providers of insurance policies. The increasing costs of the healthcare services could lead to poor-quality outcomes for the patients because the rising costs might discourage the patients in different ways.

  • Advancing of the technology in the health sector – The dynamics in the health care sector relating to both software and hardware are constantly evolving (Ghazisaeidi et al, 2015). There are harnessing of the different software applications that are used in hospitals such as Patient Administration System, Appointment Management System and other such software programmes.

Thus, the challenges that are faced by Ramsay Health Care on the corporate and business level are advancing technology in the health care sector and increasing costs of the healthcare sector. The challenges that are faced due to the impact of Covid-19 include lack of resources and overwhelming of the healthcare units (Evans, Brown & Baker 2015).

The slogan of the Ramsay Health Care that was developed includes “People caring for people”. The concept of care was inculcated in the operations and processes of the business of Ramsay Healthcare. Thus, the vision statement of Ramsay Health Care is the provision of excellent services and experiences to the consumers. The mission statement of Ramsay Health Care is the expansion of the business in many different countries across the world along with increasing the customer base for the organization.

Ramsay Health Care considers the employees and customers of the organization as the primary asset and reason behind the success of the organization. There are certain principles that are vital to Ramsay Health Care that includes the inculcation of the positive spirit in the organization and creating the environment of progression and care in the organization (Chambers et al, 2016). The organization is focussed on the development of the different ways for improvement in things and processes along with the following of the values of respect, credibility, and integrity. Ramsay Health Care also emphasizes the establishment of constructive relationships that would help in the attainment of positive outcomes in the organization.

Opportunities for growth at the corporate and business level

There are different opportunities for growth of the Ramsay Health Care at the corporate and business level. These includes:

  • Virtual care – The pandemic has resulted in the focus on virtual care in the hospital sector. There are many hospital areas that provide care on the digital portals due to a lack of physical presence.

  • Use of artificial intelligence that is based on medical imaging – The up-gradation and advancement in technology including artificial intelligence has resulted in the use of technology for medical imaging and other such processes.

  • Hospital efficient solutions – There are different areas for Ramsay Health Care that would help in the provision of hospital efficient solutions for growth at the business and corporate level.

Appropriate business model

The current business model that is used by Ramsay Health Care is the traditional business model. The core features of the traditional business model that are included are paying of the fees for the services from doctor to patient, belief upon the doctors for their knowledge and information and treatment for the areas of hospitalization & procedures, pharmaceuticals, physio services, and other such services. The strategic objectives that could be established for Ramsay Health Care in relation to the challenges are as follows:

  • Acquisition of the greater resources – The first strategic objective for Ramsay Health Care is the acquisition of the greater resources in the organization and health care sector. It would help in the research and development towards the different aspects of health care and further aspects of the different diseases.

  • Strategic planning for the health care units – The third strategic objective of Ramsay Health Care is proper planning for the allocation of the resources that would help in meeting all the needs and requirements of the health care sector along with ensuring that the hospital is not overwhelmed.

  • Programmes for educating the people – The fourth strategic objective of Ramsay Health Care is establishing programmes and campaigns that would be useful for educating the people and making them aware of programs and policies (Ginter, Duncan & Swayne 2018).

  • Inculcating customer loyalty – The fifth strategic objective of Ramsay Health Care is building customer loyalty through the provision of excellent services and experiences.

To conclude, this report would help in the analysis of the strategic management and strategic objectives of Ramsay Health Care. It was identified that the strategic issues faced by Ramsay Health Care are overwhelming of the health care units, lack of resources, increasing costs of healthcare, and advancing technology in the healthcare sector. The opportunities that were analysed for Ramsay Health Care include virtual care, hospital efficient solutions, and the use of artificial intelligence. The recommendations for the organization relate to the emphasis on the delivery of excellent services to the customers and research & development in the health care sector.
